Amethyst Clusters are a unique block infinitely produced by Budding Amethyst and Replicating Amethyst. Much like crops, they have distinct growth stages.

Obtaining
Amethyst Clusters can found growing from Budding Amethyst in Geodes. Geodes can be found in either Myrkheim or Midgard. Because of this, chunks in Midgard known to contain geodes hold additional value.
All four growth stages of Amethyst Clusters can be obtained as items by breaking them with a Fragile Pickaxe.
The only other way to grow and obtain Amethyst Clusters is to craft Replicating Amethyst, which is functionally a placeable Budding Amethyst block.
Usage
Amethyst Clusters are primarily broken to obtain Amethyst Shards. Their growth stages may also be used as decorative blocks.
